In order to prevent various crimes happening and ensure nation & people property security and al industries & departments normal operating, adopting high tech measures to fight crime has become a consensus in security field.Detention house is a place detaining & controlling criminals, so security is firstly required to ensure. We must ensure society security and jail people security as well. Using advanced security device can effectively enhance management on prisoners, directly & instantly show key places situation and strengthen security measures. In a word, high tech fighting crime is the great tool in modernized jail management.
In light of above condition, Beijing Backbone Computer Technology Co., Ltd (China) using fast developed computer technology & advanced image processing skill, integrating many year ability & experience on researching digital CCTV products, after investigation or analysis on monitoring demand and user's demand, firstly develops a set of networking monitoring system, IDRS NVMS (IDRS network video management system), which integrates software with hardware and processes multiple devices on only one platform. This system's success in application verifies that remote management of CCTV monitoring system has become a key function in whole system. This system will bring more convenience and excitement to those customers requiring NVMS function; it break off the conception between server and client on traditional video monitoring control system, enables network client to serve as another big control center as well, even the new control center can simultaneously manage its belonged client so as to form a real network video management system.
2. System design philosophy
- Advance philosophy: in IDRS NVMS, all core hardware adopts advanced TI chip and H/W H.264 compression skill, ensuring system reaching high level. Furthermore, our products provide lifelong free upgrade service to keep system's advancement forever.
- Reliable philosophy: all the core devices----IDRS series products (including IDRS-6000S DVR, IDRS-401A net video encoder, IDRS-6000HC stand alone DVR, etc) pass through national authentication, getting rid of user's worry on stability.
- High performance philosophy: this system requires very high performance capability. IDRS-6000S DVR can simultaneously process 48 channels pictures and sync recording; IDRS-Video Site can simultaneously 48 channels pictures and 1~48 channels real time saving, responsible for as many as 48×48=2304 (48 connections × 48 cameras) channels picture cycled recording with save, transmitting max 256 channels video.
- Synchronization can finish 24 channels hardware decoding output from digital to analog.
- Expandable philosophy: in system designment, we fully consider the feasibility of future expandability and reserve many interfaces for this. System can unlimited upgrading theoretically based on addition of IDRS central severs.

3. User demand analysis
In the preconditions of complying with national standards and integrating years of engineering experience, we get the demands of users and show the design idea below:- Detention house local monitoring: require to setting up local monitoring center and transmitting video/audio/alarm signal to control center, as well as reaching functions of real time display/record save/playback/PTZ control; able to remotely visit server function, remotely authenticate identification and configure authority.
- Detention house local network monitoring: require relevant departments to realize real time network monitoring, record saving and remotely managing server (rely on authority)
- Municipal police network monitoring: require municipal police department to able to real time monitor, record & save and manage PTZ control via specified network. Also require the police department to able to convert digital video to analog video on its control center and able to ensure there are authority controlling function preventing illegal connection.
- Provincial police network monitoring system: require provincial police department to able to link with its belonged lower class police departments, and to able to monitor all the belonged detention houses, control monitoring, recording & saving and PTZ controlling. Besides, require the reserved interfaces to fit those of upper-provincial serving system, as well as set up ability of converting digital signal to analog signal.
Our designed solution allows multi-device to work on same platform, and supports video site's cascading function. Municipal police department links to lower detention houses video, at the same time it also provides an interface to link to upper police department.
3.1 Local monitoring function
As known from the user's demands, we know there should be installed at important places different cameras, IR detectors, sound pickups, manual alarm buttons, alarm bell and suchlike front-end devices; be installed at control center recording or monitoring related control devices. Details below:

3.2 Remote monitoring function
Support strong networking function, could set up network by PSTN, ISDN, ADSL, DDN, LAN and Internet, as well as providing firewall penetrating, VLAN penetrating and router's open port suchlike parameters & functions
Adopt advanced network decompression format, auto fitting bandwidth & allocating resource, rapidly optimizing network transmission, enhancing picture quality and reducing networking delay.
System supports simultaneously remote visiting of multi sub-controller to one main controller, or multi sub-controller to multi main controller, isolating between any two points, no interference each other;
Remote networking owns local server's all functions, including remote picture real time viewing, remotely calling video file, remotely controlling PTZ, remote alarm receiving, as well as setting each server's specifications via network.
Can manage different servers in grouping, by pressing shortcut calling different pictures on same one server or viewing different server's picture on same window
Support remote recording & saving function:
Can define authority of sub-controller at main controller, with different passwords authorizing different authorities to distinguish management level and to enhance management safety;
Support alarm uploading function, alarm happened, server would auto upload signal to specific sub-controller and auto record
4. System composition & function introduction
4.1 System diagram
4.2 Front-end detector device
Front-end detecting devices mainly include video monitoring part and alarm part, different condition selecting different devices; video monitoring part links with alarm part via control server, i.e. when IR detector is activated, it will call relevant cameras to verify picture
Video monitoring part cameras usually choose color camera, according to environment difference selecting proper cameras: PTZ camera, fixed Monofocal camera and ceiling mount dome camera.
Alarm part detection devices mainly are negative IR detector, alarm button and acousto-optic alarm.
Front-end devices are recommended to use our owned Bernee series cameras which not only pass national test, also are applied for many big projects. Product maturity has been very high, especially picture quality places powerful position, gained appreciation by many customers.
4.3 Local control center devices
According to user's demand, it is necessary in detention key points to install different cameras, IR detectors, sound pickup, manual alarm buttons and alarm rings, and in control center to install DVR suchlike devices. In IDRS NVMS system, control center is the data source of whole system. Besides in charge of daily display, record saving, playback reaching and alarm processing, it must take in charge of remote switch-in service for legal users so as to make remote users manage and maintain conveniently.
Detention-house inner control center installs IDRS-6000S DVR, console, TV-wall, alarm server and suchlike networking devices.
4.4 Municipal control center
Municipal control center adopts sub controlling mode, via IDRS-6000S Video Site managing all videos. No matter the keeper uses industrial control DVR (IDRS-6000S), stand alone DVR (IDRS-6000HC) or DVS (IDRS-400C), control center can centrally display & control and effectively allocate resources.
By this way, system can effectively avoid network jam caused by multi-user simultaneously visiting main server. Control center can output signal to TV-wall via both video site and digital-to-analog decoding system.
4.5 Provincial control center
Provincial control center is basically same with the municipal, could add device according to volume & demand difference
4.6 Other clients
IDRS NVMS software adopts C/S and B/S two structures, can centrally manage cameras scattered at different places; these users can simultaneously visit same picture or different pictures despite at different sites or authorities; among them has no interference, really realizing real time monitoring with "multitask".
For those users with different authorities, it is easy to view relevant onsite situations via IE whenever and wherever.
5. Core functions introduction
IDRS NVMS (network video management system) adopts standard Internet protocol, can set up based on LAN, WAN or WIFI, capable of connecting with different model Ethernet devices. Not needing specified video line or control line on system, user can vie any networked PC view onsite situations real time; meanwhile it can connect with local system, realizing multiuse of just one network.5.1 Strong central management function
For the users who require vast management and big system, IDRS NVMS, creating central server and video site concept, will take users clearer networking / monitoring / control / management relations so as to enhance system utilization but reduce operation expense or system maintenance expense.
System, via registration of central server users & devices, can build up a platform working with video processing in video site, offer support for front-end IDRS core equipments and service for user connecting.
5.2 Perfect system functions
System control server and each client can real time monitor covered local & remote clients, different users having different authorities according to duty difference. Onsite pictures can be classified with specific sites, displaying in 4-picture / 9-picture / 16-picture, can be recorded by manual, schedule or alarm auto activation. In this system, due to reasonable assignment among central server, storage server and front-end video encoder, they will generate max effect.
5.3 Adopt video proxy mechanism, save bandwidth
In finite bandwidth status, system offers proxy mechanism, in other words, when many users simultaneously visit some channel picture, this picture will be sent out from video site, which saves insufficient bandwidth greatly.
Meanwhile picture is sent out by VOD (video on demand) mode, I.e. picture is not sent out until user requests, and thus bandwidth has higher utility.
5.4 Operation easy
Operation interface is designed with humanization and all visual interfaces are in English, so user can accord with English direct to realize all monitoring operations. In real time monitoring process, user can control front-end cameras by moving mouse.
5.5 Remote system maintenance and management
IDRS-VW video site provides remote visiting function, i.e. manager need not go to front-end working site but just via network modifies front-end IDRS-400C video server and IDRS-6000S specifications, enhancing maintenance efficiency.
Meanwhile manager can remotely add, delete and modify user/monitoring place/authority/record time/alarm information. When this information is modified over, manager need not maintain client, but just logins system again and manager will get the new authority, which greatly releases software maintenance burden.
5.6 Easy to integrate with local network
System adopts a standard TCP/IP protocol, with strong openness & compatibility, connecting with system easily; inter-network users just use client software viewing picture with no any setting. At front-end can link to many existed resources, avoiding repeated investment.
5.7 Perfect expendability
IDRS NVMS front-end point adopts modular designment; when system needs to expend, it is easy to add front-end point. At control center, just adding new point into system is the all work for system expansion. This system does not limit user quantity, so user can use browser and client to whenever and anywhere to monitor onsite situation with PC.
System can accord with real installation environment to choose specific version; perfect expandability makes users low cost set up system at beginning, expand further later on.
