The Specifications of Cameras

The PARAM: AGC ON/OFF, ATW ON/OFF, ALC/ELC, BLC ON/OFF, LL/INT, VIDEO/DC, SOFT/SHARP, FLICKERLESS

The cameras are used to take the pictures of the monitoring areas and convert them into the signal, according to the size of CCD, the cameras are classified into 1/3″、1/2″、2/3″and according to installation styles, they can be divided into two kinds: One is fixed installation and other is with the platform.

Camera basic settings

(1) AGC ON/OFF: The lens has a video amplifier which amplify the signal from the CCD to see it, also is a high sensitive element. In the bright environment, the amplifier will be overweight so that this distorts the signal. When the switcher is on, open the lens aperture in the low light environment, we can get clear image because of AGC. When the switcher is off, in the low light condition, lens only can get natural images with low S/N ratio.

(2) ATW ON/OFF: when the switch is on,, the pick-up head can test the character and color temp of light so as to auto continuously set the white, the red and blue signal can be gained even if the character and color temp changes.

(3) When ELC was chosen, the electronic shutter continuously auto changes the exposure time of CCD sensor(usually from 1/50 to 1/10000 second), when you choose this style, fixed or manual aperture lens can take place of ALC.

Note: At the outdoor or bright conditions, because of limited control area of ELC, ALC is better to choose. At some unique lighting conditions, maybe there appear the following problems:

  • ①The vague problems happened to the high light objects like window and spotlight.
  • ②Image flicker and unstable color
  • ③White balance has periodical changes, if these happen, please apply ALC lens.
  • When the lens is auto aperture, please apply the ALC.

(4) BLC ON/OFF:If you want to make your picture clearer, turn on this switcher.

  • ①note: When used with platform or light changed, please turn off it because the speed of lens aperture will be slowly if it is on.
  • ② If the important objects are not in the middle of pictures, BLC will not play full role.

5)It is used for choosing lens’ LL/INT, INT is internal sync; LL is the line lock. The line lock feature is available on most CCTV cameras and is used to prevent picture rolling on the monitor when switching from one camera to another. Picture roll will cause the loss of vital picture information in the video recorder, and it is irritating to view.

(6) VIDEO / DC: ALC has two kinds of control signal, when auto aperture lens of DC control signal need to be fixed on the pick-up head, DC should be selected. When auto aperture lens of video control signal need to be fixed on the pick-up head, should be selected.

(7) SOFT/SHARP:It is used to adjust the image sharp or soft, usually, the original setting from the industry is at sharp position. (8) FLICKERLESS: a flicker less control (On/Off dip switch selectable) captures the wide and intense range of color of some light sources and adjusts the color, gain, electronic shutter control and white tracking balance to produce a good quality color picture.

(8) FLICKERLESS: a flicker less control (On/Off dip switch selectable) captures the wide and intense range of color of some light sources and adjusts the color, gain, electronic shutter control and white tracking balance to produce a good quality color picture.

Example 1

When pointing a security camera at lighting with a strong, wide and intense range of color(such as sodium, fluorescent or mercury vapor light), you will notice that the camera will continually try to adjust to the high color range of the lighting, most commonly referred to as ‘pulsing’. Most cameras have a difficult time capturing the intense color illumination associated with these types of lighting making it hard for the camera to identify a ‘correct’ frame of reference, causing the camera to pulse.

Example 2

If you have ever watched the news when they’ve shown a computer monitor in the background, you have probably noticed that the computer monitor appears to pulse, flicker and/or even have big scrolling lines. The harmonic power frequency difference between the cycle of 50 Hz fluorescent lighting and the vertical synchronization of the camera causes the ‘flickering’ on a monitor. These effects are overcome when a Flicker less camera is used.
