What is a DVR (digital video recorder)?
DVR (digital video recorder) records by hard disk skill which is different with analog video skill of traditional recorder, so it is called Digital Video Recorder or Disk Video Recorder.
DVR divides as three kinds:
- 1.digital STBr
- Digital STB (set-top box) DVR belongs to multi-function receiver according to specifications, which mainly provides digital recording service and receives signal of both digital broadcast and interaction data. This kind DVR can also opt to receive Digital Terrestrial, Digital Cable or Digital Satellite etc.
- 2.PC-based
- PC-based DVR is just like its name, being based on PC or laptop. There are one or more cards of video capture supported by software to compress and edit picture, therefore the system is unstable.
- 3.Standalone
- Standalone DVR which is designed on CPU or RAM device uses dedicated program of software, but developing cost is high. Standalone DVR adopts hard disk compression, with stable quality and without problem of system halt, even having much developed in resolution, storing speed and image quality. This kind product only serves digital recording and displaying, without services of receiving broadcast signal and communicating during websites
